Peer Mediation

Peer Mediation Makes a Difference at Eisenhower

Eisenhower School Sign

Eisenhower students are encouraged to resolve conflicts peacefully and intervention isn't always necessary. However, when students cannot agree on a resolution, Peer Mediation can help.

Eisenhower's Peer Mediation program was implemented during the 2008-2009 school year. The program, designed for students in grades 4-6, offers support for students who want to resolve conflicts in a confidential and safe environment. All mediations are supervised by an adult.

Prior to participating in a mediation, peer mediators receive thorough training in conflict resolution. Once training is completed, peer mediators work with fellow students to solve problems using peaceful methods that emphasize cooperation, communication, and tolerance. Students learn that many potential conflicts involving two or more students can be curtailed through mediation. These skills learned through mediation can last a lifetime!

Students may submit a request for mediation by completing a mediation form and placing it in the 'intervention box" on Mr. Lamsargis' door.

Please encourage your child to utilize this valuable resource at school.
